Add a little Christmas Cheer to anytime of the year with this delicious boozy eggnog ice cream. This easy to make ice cream is so delicious, your guests will love the all the layers of flavor this ice cream has to offer. Even though rum is in the recipe, the alcohol is cooked off which makes this Eggnog Ice Cream kid friendly and the perfect for Christmas Party Dessert!
Ingredients
½ cup rum
1½ cups Farmer's All Natural whole milk
1-1/8 cups granulated sugar
3 cups Farmer's All Natural heavy whipping cream
1½ teaspoons freshly grated nutmeg or ground (fresh is best)
1½ tablespoons vanilla paste or vanilla extract (paste is best)
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, add the rum and milk.
Using a candy thermometer, bring the milk mixture to 172° ( the degree that will cook off the alcohol). DO NOT BOIL
Take the hot milk mixture off the heat, add the sugar, stir until dissolved.
Lightly whisk in the heavy cream, nutmeg and vanilla.
Pour into a container with a tight fitting lid.
Store in the refrigerator until completely COLD (about 3 hours).
Follow instructions for your ice cream machine.
NOTE: IF YOU USE THE AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL IN THE RECIPE THE ICE CREAM WILL BE A SOFT SERVE CONSISTANCY. FOR A THICKER ICE CREAM USE LESS RUM (about 2 tablespoons)
Transfer to an airtight container with a tight fitting lid or serve immediately.
Store in the freezer.
